Portek Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

Portek Ltd. is committed to ensuring it operates in an ethical manner that fully complies with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This statement gives a broad overview of our commitment to help to prevent human rights abuses within our wider business network including the businesses with whom we work.

Our Structure, Business and Supply Chain

We are an agricultural supply and manufacturing company based in the UK who sell only to the trade. We distribute products which relate to agriculture and rural dweller needs. We work with domestic and overseas supply businesses to procure products and parts for manufacturing.

Slavery and Human Trafficking Policies

It is the aim of our business to be compliant with the 2015 Slavery and Human Trafficking Act. We are confident that our UK business is free from practices covered by the act. We are aware that risks may exist in foreign companies with whom we trade. We vet our suppliers by personally visiting the factories from whom we purchase goods to observe first-hand the likelihood of and human rights abuse taking place.

Actions to raise awareness and compliance within our organisation by the end of 2018

  • Discuss and secure approval and commitment at the Board level for our company statement.
  • Join Hope for Justice (an initiative to tackle modern slavery in supply chains) and encourage staff to attend seminars to educate ourselves on this issue.
  • Train all staff procuring product overseas on identifying risks when vetting supply companies and what can be done to address them.
  • Contribute to Hope for Justice which is working to eliminate slavery.
